Job Overview:

We’re looking forward to welcoming a Clinical Counsellor to our team to provide professional counselling for individuals impacted by trauma and abuse onsite in Campbell River.

North Island Survivors’ Healing Society (NISHS) is a supportive, inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can safely explore therapy with counsellors trained in addressing the effects of post‑traumatic stress. Our team draws on a wide range of recognized and evidence‑based therapeutic approaches.

Since 1993, NISHS has grown into a centre of extensive clinical experience, knowledge, and resources. It is a small agency with heart, that offers a strong setting for learning, skill development, and meaningful contribution to the community.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Provide both in‑depth, long‑term counselling and some that is shorter term.
- Deliver counselling services onsite, with the option to engage with some clients virtually when appropriate.
- Participate in regular clinical consultation, which is provided as part of the role.
- Maintain client records in alignment with privacy legislation and agency standards.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Consultant or Executive Director when additional guidance or support is needed.
- Facilitation of group therapy is not required but may be an option.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- You hold a graduate degree and are currently registered—or eligible to become registered within two months of hire—with a recognized professional counselling association. If your graduate degree was completed outside Canada, you are either already registered with a Canadian professional counselling association or have obtained an international credential assessment that meets the standards of counselling associations in British Columbia.
- You consistently uphold the ethical standards, professional guidelines, and codes of conduct required by both this agency and your professional associations.

Compensation & Working Conditions

- Permanent full‑time position (30 hours per week) or part‑time position (25 hours per week) Contracting may be considered for counsellors with more than five years of full‑time related experience
- A consistent weekly schedule that includes one evening shift

- Vacation entitlement of 6% in the first year, increasing to 8% beginning in the second year
- Administrative tasks handled by dedicated administrative staff
- A collaborative and supportive working environment with strong professional relationships among team members

Pay: $44.00 per hour for employee
